Being welcomed into the malaria club by James---Priceless!

So yeah, I am now a member of the malaria club. I don’t really waste anytime getting things done :o) I wrote that other blog about feeling sick and I apparently already had it! I had been feeling bad because of something on that Tuesday, but the following days my stomach hurt after I ate things, and I had a slight recurring headache and I was really tired. So I asked Liz if she could write me up a lab prescription test and she did. I did a malaria test where the prick your finger and put the blood on a glass thing to look at and then. . . I had to do a stool test to see if maybe what I had was a parasite. It was harsh, I almost cried with I tried to figure out what I was supposed to do, simply because I had no idea and I didn’t know how to communicate that and I was terrified of doing it and having it! But luckily I pulled myself together and “Gett’er done”.

Thankfully when James prescribed my medicine he didn’t give me Quinine because that makes people sick. More sick than the whole Malaria does.

I know that there are a lot of you out there right now who are thinking to yourself. . .”I knew she should have gotten the medicine to prevent it” or maybe you are thinking, “Ha! That’s what happens when you don’t listen to me and take it!” But just so you all know there were 2 of the Americans who were here and they took the pills but they also got it. It’s just one of those things. It’s the rainy season and it’s very likely that you will get it. Besides mine was only 0.05% and that’s really low. No worries, I am okay the medicine isn’t all that bad and I am getting better. The only down side was that I didn’t know that Doxy makes you very sensitive to sun and on Sunday Liz and I went down to the river and I was very hot and burnt and now I feel like I am really sick but that I think is sun poisoning. In dew time I will be better :0) Until that time I am no longer all white, I’m white with rouge and my kids like to touch my skin so that it turns white and then red again. Curious things they are.

Peace out.

Feel free to send sympathy cards to me via snail mail or email!!!!

And as always please pray for us!

Sonya,

What in the world? How are you going to save the continent if you are all covered up with malaria?? I'm sure this is just a minor setback that will just enhance your overall missionary experience...

Take care of yourself!

Congratulations! Aren't you glad you read that scarey Nat. Geo. article. Now you know what is really going on in your body. Good luck getting better. How's your french coming? My mom and I are in Flagstaff, AZ for the night. The trip out west has been fun, but I'm ready to "get'er done" and move into my house. Finding a bed is my first priority, than it's nest, nest, nest. I'm glad to hear you're a universal doner! Miss ya!
