Math

Four people are making tamales, two groups of two.

If Delia can make 4 tamales in the time it takes Rachel to make one and Andrea can fill tamales twice as fast as Sonya. How long will it take the four of them to make 425 tamales?

*Knowing that Deli and Rachel are making the outside of the tamales and Andrea and Sonya are filling them.

If you know the answer post it in the comments. Perhaps you will win a prize.

D. Not enough information given.

I'm pretty sure I'm not a fan of math word problems, and after 425 tamales, I'm becoming less of a fan of them too. :)

Hahahaha! I love math! Here's my answer:

In X amount of time, Delia + Rachel = 5 tamale outsides.
In Y amount of time, Andrea + Sonya = 3 tamale insides.

3x = 15 tamale outsides.
5y = 15 tamale insides.

425 / 15 = 28.33

Therefore, the answer = 28.33(3x+5y).

In order to arrive at a solution without variables, information must be given of the relationship between x and y and the relationship of either x or y to real time.

Kessia: good job on the math. I guess you win because yours looked the most real, even if I couldn't follow it because it was so mathy. There was a reason I was a Humanities student in college.
